Are organizing a one of a kind project in the academic year 2007/2008, first of this kind in the Czech Republic.

„Post-graduate courses designed to appreciate life experience – necessary for those who intend to expand the horizon of their active professional life
(„ARNOLD“)

ARNOLD project is aimed at older citizens living and working in Prague, who, in spite of having achieved 50 years, do not consider retiring and intend to stay active in their professional life as before in order to create new interesting projects in a field they know very well. The project aims to provide these admirable people with the knowledge and skills they need for their future professional success even though these skills are often assigned to their younger colleagues.

The principal activity of this project is the creation and pilot run of the education programme, which will contain study modules such as the most recent trends in social and professional life, efficient thinking methods, how to overcome stereotypes, capitalizing on one´s experience, team communication, making use of modern information technologies and last but not least qualified care about one´s health. Participants can also benefit from distance learning using the e-learning portal and individual consultations with the trainers.

The course-leavers will receive a certificate ot the successful completion of a university postgraduate education programme. The courses are free of charge as the project is fully financed from the European social fund budget, the Czech Republic budget and the City of Prague budget.

www.vsfs.cz
(see the choice “ EU education programmes “ – see the ARNOLD programme)

The education programme is composed of 4 study modules:

Module 1: Recent trends in social and professional development
The aim is to make the participants familiar with the newest knowledge in dynamic fields that are related to their professional life now, with a focus on constituting the knowledge society. The 5-day module makes it possible for the project participants to create their own personal SWOT analysis with the help of professionals. The SWOT analysis enables them to get to know their own strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the ever-changing world.
On the basis of the SWOT analysis, the participants create their own plan of personal development and formulate their own strategic career plan. The concluding, training part of the module, the participants learn by doing and practice the most effective methods and procedures of the realization of the strategic plan with focus on key situations (change in companies and organizations, selection procedures, job and evaluation interviews, key presentations, participation in entrepreneur and EU funded projects etc.

Module 2: Efficient thinking methods, overcoming stereotypes, capitalizing on one´s experience
The methods and methodology of thinking aimed at making better use of experience, their systemization, strengthening of the innovative elements, overcoming stereotypes, increasing the communicative skills. To be more precise, the module includes, the following competences: innovating, systemizing (arranging the acquired knowledge with respect to their use in practice), communicating ( being able to hand over knowledge and accept the knowledge in communication), realization ( being able to use the knowledge practically. In this module, materials made for the topic of more effective thinking will be used. The lectures will be completed with practical sessions. Half of the module will be carried out through the e-learning portal using distant assistance.

Module 3:Team and inert-generation communication using modern information technologies
The module consists of a set of methods and practical skills in using the life-long learning information delivery service in relation to practical skills in communicating across generations and inter-field team cooperation.
Life-long information delivery service prepared by the Institute of Finance and Administration for their graduates will be used here. Being able to use this system means having on-line access to the newest knowledge in the field, including primary research output. The participants will acquire access to the information service in the form of methodic, technical and team inter-generation cooperation. Part of the learning will consist in acquiring applicable knowledge through case studies with teams consisting of people of different generations and through the use of information technologies. Planning the life-long career will represent an essential part of the project, which makes the project beneficial for younger team members.

Module 4: Qualified self- health care
Complementary knowledge about how to use health care in an active, efficient and optimal way and about how to lead a life style that helps prevent diseases and about how to monitor one´s health condition including efficient relaxation and holidays.
All the modules listed above will be conceived so as to have an overall complex effecting terms of positive hand-over of knowledge and so as to achieve that in terms of the set of methods and practices or in terms of enhancing motivation and making use of experience, the participants get connected to the information service of IFA, to the e-learning portal, to the team electronic communication.
